To strengthen the relations with decision makers in industry and universities in China, the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) at Stockholm University will be present during the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

The Department of Computer and System Sciences will participate in Expo 2010 in Shanghai. One of the goals is to strengthen the department's educational partnerships with universities in Shanghai's proximity. Another objective is to establish contacts with industry to enable Swedish students to carry out thesis work in China.

On 10–12 June will DSV to present their education and research activities during the Stockholm days in the VIP section of the Swedish pavilion. Seminars and networking meetings will be organized for the invited guests and press.

– Internationalization is increasingly important in the globalized society and we, like everyone else, of course, see China as a major party. Chinese students and scholars are of very well-qualified and this is a great opportunity to meet present and future partners in a larger context, "says Harko Verhagen, head of international relations at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University.

The activities take place in conjunction with the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Kista Science City, KTH and Uppsala Municipality and Education, Stockholm. The project manager is Stockholm Business Region.

Expo 2010 runs from 1 May to 31 October 2010th. Around 200 countries will participate and organizers estimated attendance at 70 million, 95 percent of which are estimated to live in China. The theme of Expo 2010 is Better City, Better Life, which forms the basis for the Swedish theme "Sweden – Spirit of Innovation” with catchwords "Innovation", "Sustainability" and "Communications".
