Units
DSV's operations are conducted within the framework of units. The basis for the formation of the units is DSV's key topics and that the unit activities include research, postgraduate education, further education and training, commissioned education, and third stream activities (interaction with the wider community). The basis for the formation of a unit may also be various forms of specialized activities.
Currently, there are the following units with full academic operations:
- Flexible learning
- Information systems
- Knowledge and communication technology
- Security informatics
- Systems analysis and software design
The units work is led by the unit director, who is responsible for the unit’s performance, quality, the part of the department’s budget that has been delegated to the unit as well as the organization, staff and working environment.
In addition to the people and projects that are linked to the department’s secretariat, there are people, projects, assignments and courses / modules offered at KTH and Stockholm University that are administratively uniquely linked to a unit. Inter-unit activities and involvement across unit boundaries are also important.
The units have large degree of freedom to define their internal organization with regard to allowing for different groups of staff to have the opportunity to influence decisions that are made. In units involved with basic (graduate) studies there is a supervisor for graduate studies.
