DSV's e-mail servers
IMAP server
IMAP is a protocol for retrieving e-mail from DSV's mail server. IMAP is a efficient protocol, since it only retrieves the e-mail headers until you request the entire message. E-mail clients should use mail.dsv.su.se as the IMAP server, with TLS or SSL encryption enabled.
POP server
POP (Post Office Protocol) is can also be used retrieve e-mails from DSV's mail server, but avoid if possible. E-mail clients should use mail.dsv.su.se as the POP server, with SSL encryption enabled.
SMTP server
SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) is the protocol used to send e-mails. DSV's SMTP server is mail.dsv.su.se
Only computers on DSV's network can use DSV's SMTP server without password. Normally each ISP provides an SMTP server. If you want to use DSV's SMTP server from outside of DSV, you need to enable SSL encryption and authenticate yourself with your username and password, just like IMAP.
