Information to admitted students

On behalf of Stockholm University (SU) and the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences in Kista (DSV), we are pleased to welcome you to one of our Master of Science Programmes.

The programmes are composed of 120 credits which correspond to 2 years of full-time studies. We also have a one year Master of Science Programme that is composed of 60 credits. Language of instruction is English.

Admission

You will receive notification regarding your admission from universityadmissions.se

In order to keep your place in the programme you must reply to your offer and confirm acceptance no later than April 2nd 2012 (for those who applied before January 15th and receives the notification results in mid-March). Responses are received on the website universityadmissions.se. If you fail to reply to your offer before the deadline your admission will be withdrawn.

Conditional Admission

If you have a condition attached to your admission, you will also be asked to show proof that the condition has been fulfilled on enrolment day. Please bring the original of your bachelor degree certificate as well as a complete transcript of your courses. If the documents are in a language we are not likely to understand, you must also bring a translation of each document. Please note that the translation must be made by a certified translator. Languages that are accepted without a translation include: Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

If you recently have completed all your courses but not yet obtained your bachelor degree, you may also bring an official document from your university stating that you fulfil the requirements of the bachelor degree and that you will be awarded it later.

Enrolment

The courses start from Monday September 3rd 2012. It is strongly recommended that you arrive in Stockholm one week in advance in order to get settled in before you begin your studies. There will be an orientation day as well as an information session during the week before the courses start. You may also need one day for enrolment. If you fail to enrol in time you will lose your seat in the programme. More information about enrolment procedures will be published later this spring.
Please inform yourself about your programme outline.

Student counselling

In case you have any questions regarding your upcoming studies, please contact a student counsellor.

Residence Permit

We assume that you have the legal right to study in Sweden, e.g. Swedish nationality or a valid residence permit. If that is not the case or if you are not certain, please consult the information on the website of the Swedish Migration Board. If you need a residence premit, the procedure should be started immediately to make sure of getting your permit in time for the enrolment and beginning of your education in August 2012.

You do not have to ask us for any documents because the Swedish Migration Board has been informed by universityadmissions.se of your admission, so when applying for a residence premit you just have to mention that you have been admitted to the programme.

Please observe that a residence permit cannot be granted before paying the first instalment of the tuition fee. Please pay as soon as possible as the application procedure may take longer than expected and you may lose your seat in the programme if you fail to enrol in time.

Accommodation

It is very important that you arrange for accommodation in Stockholm as soon as possible.
Most students find their accommodation through the Foundation of Student Accommodation in Stockholm (SSSB) but we strongly recommend that you also contact other providers of accommodation. More information and useful links are provided on the Stockholm university website for housing.

If you arrive in Stockholm without long-term accommodation, an alternative may be to spend your first time in a youth hostel. Information is available at www.svif.se.

In cooperation with KTH.
