Why choose Information security?

The track on information security focuses on knowledge and awareness of making the systems and applications which our society depends on less vulnerable towards potential threats. The rapid growth of Internet-based “e-everything” (e-business, e-payment, e-health, etc) depends on the security, privacy and reliability of applications, systems, communications, and supporting infrastructures. Thus the contemporary challenges within information security are to develop, implement, support, manage, and govern trustworthy information systems in global environments.
To meet these demands technical knowledge needs to blend with adequate organizational, managerial, economical and legal knowledge.

The specialized track covers areas such:

•    System, Information, Computer, and Network Security
•    Security Architecture and Assessment
•    Risk and Security Management and Governance
•    IT related Forensics
•    European perspectives on IT law

Professionals engaged within the area are referred to as, e.g., experts in security, risk or forensics, IT auditors, Information Security Officers, security managers, or system developers or researchers with security focus.

ES1 units for Spring 2011:

Period 3: choose one of the following two courses:

• Software engineering and security architecture
• Digital Forensics

Period 4: you take

• Information Security Organization and Managment

Plus a choice between the following 2 courses:

• IT Security Organization Project
• Cyber Forensics

• Network Security
• General System Theory
• Legal Aspects of Information Security
