Distance Master's Programme in IT Project Management
The Master's Programme in IT Project Management is provided entirely at a distance and enables you to choose the time and place for studies. The idea is that the program will be available to all, regardless of where you are located in the world. The training is ideal for anyone wishing to continue their education or to combine work with study, but has limited ability to regularly attend lectures and seminars.
With a Master's degree in IT project management from Stockholm University, you acquire the knowledge and skills needed to run projects as a project manager in the field of Information and Communication Technology. You learn the necessary tools such as project planning, economics, agile models, negotiation techniques, corporate law, and much more.
This programme is given as an online master, which means that you have the opportunity to study a master in your own country, at your own pace, fitting your situation, and specific needs.
All courses will be available through our learning platform giving students the freedom of being location independent. Teachers and tutors from academia and industry will give students support and students will be required to do on the job training during their studies.
Career
Graduates of the programme will be eligable for positions as project managers in almost any field within the IT industry, in large or small organisations. Graduates may also enter Ph.D. programmes for a research career.
Programme outline
The Master's programme in IT-project Management is a 2 year, 120 credit program. You as a student can choose your own study pace depending on your ability and social situation. The programme consists of the following parts.
Admissions requirements
Bachelor’s degree (fil. kand) with at least 60 hp in the field of Computer and Systems Sciences or equivalent.
Language proficiency
Swedish upper secondary school course English B or:
- IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)- Academic Module: Overall minimum score of 6.5 (with no section below 5.5).
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- Paper Based: Overall minimum score of 575 (with minimum score 4.5 in the written test)
- Internet based : Overall minimum score of 90 (with minimum score 20 in the written test)
- University of Cambridge and Oxford: Certificate in Advanced English or Diploma of English Studies

Students should apply if they have a B.Sc. with at least 60 credits in the field of Computer and Systems Sciences, Information Systems or tehir equivalent, and if they are interested in developing project management skills.
