Project idea

In order to finish within the allocated time frame, you need to prepare your thesis work in advance. First and foremost, you need to figure out what topic you want to study; issues, problem, i.e. what you want to investigate. Furthermore, you need to motivate your choice of topic; why is it interesting? Who are the target groups? Since you must apply a scientific method, it is necessary that you describe the methods and theories you plan to use.

Thesis topic

In order to help you choose a topic for your thesis you can watch and listen to some of DSV's teachers and researchers  presenting their topics at http://play.dsv.su.se/course/Supervisor%20intro. More presentations will come soon. At DSV we have approximately 50 different supervisors, only a few of them will present on video.

You have to login using your DSV kerberos account. Then just click on the names to see the videos.

Watson Box

To structure and communicate your project idea, use the Watson Box below.

What?

Why?

What puzzles/intrigues me?

What do I want to know more about/understand better?

What are my key research questions?

If it is a project initiated by industry/other organizations or a supervisor, indicate that and who your contact person is.

Why will this be of interest to others?

Who would be interested in the knowledge produced?

Can the research be justified as a 'contribution to knowledge'?

Why am I a suitable person to carry out this project?

How – conceptually?

How – practically?

What models, concepts and theories can I draw on?

How can these be brought together into a basic conceptual framework to guide my investigation?

What investigative styles and techniques shall I use to apply my conceptual framework (both to gather material and to analyse it)?

How shall I gain and maintain access to information sources?
