IT and learning
The research field IT and learning covers:
- Policy studies. Analyses of national and institutional policies for IT within training and education systems.
- Research concerning practical experience. Studies of technology-supported learning in both formal and informal contexts.
- Design and development. Innovative applications for learning, including computer game environments.
- ICT4D (Information and Communication Technology for Development). IT and its importance for schools and universities in developing countries, for poverty reduction and as a means for improving quality of life.
- Flexible learning. Making training and education available to all, mass-individualisation, represents a major global challenge. IT related to accessibility and integration as regards place of residence, infrastructure, gender, ethnicity, language, socio-economic affinity, disability, etc. Importance and role of telecentres/learning centres both locally and globally. Innovative ways of training teachers to use ICT.
- Knowledge management and the network society. New technology and its potential for promoting critical and creative thinking. International professional networks that use collaborative IT tools. Studies of learning organisations and the management of knowledge-based companies.
