Promising collaboration in
Business IT Alignment
The IT Management group at DSV is starting a promising research collaboration with Professor Jerry Luftman - a well known authority in business-IT alignment and in IT management area in general. Associate Professor Lazar Rusu is convinced that this collaboration will develop research in the IT management area at DSV.
Some years ago Associate Professor Lazar Rusu started the IT management group with a research focus in different topics of IT management like business-IT alignment, IT governance, IT outsourcing and IT service management. In order to strengthen our research in IT management area, Associate Professor Lazar Rusu has invited Dr Luftman a Distinguished Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology New-York to visit DSV in late March to discuss about possible research collaboration in the Business IT alignment area. Lazar Rusu hosted the meeting and was very happy with the results.
“For me this meeting with Professor Jerry Luftman was a start for research collaboration with an authority in the IT Management area. I invited Jerry Luftman to have a discussion with my IT management group about his research work and find also about our research work in the IT management,” Lazar Rusu explains.
At the meeting we had on March 22, 2011 the group presented some of their research. The topics raised the interest of Professor Luftman, and he has provided us many usefully comments. We have discussed possibilities for research collaboration in the business-IT alignment area.
“Business-IT Alignment is today a top management concern in many organizations around the world. From this perspective the expertise of Professor Jerry Luftman in the business-IT alignment will help us to develop our research in this area, Associate Professor Lazar Rusu concludes.”
He is the founder and Executive Director of the Howe School’s Graduate Information Systems Programs. Professor Jerry Luftman’s career includes strategic positions in management (Information Technology and consulting), management consulting, Information Systems, and education. Dr. Luftman’s experience combines the strengths of practitioner, consultant, and academic. His proficiency in business-IT alignment, books, published research, consulting and teaching/speaking engagements further exemplify Dr. Luftman’s expertise and leadership in his field. After a notable twenty-two year career with IBM, he is currently a Distinguished Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology School of Management.
