A framework for more secure e-gov services in Tanzania
Many countries are moving fast into to the “IT world” without considering the ramifications of different systems. Governments are keen to offer citizens new e-government service and sometimes the security aspects are not considered from the start. This is especially true in many developing countries where the IT maturity is low. A newly presented doctoral thesis presented by Geoffrey Rwezaura Karokola from Tanzania.is addressing the security aspects of e-government services.

Funding for a project on diaspora Ethiopian entrepreneurship
The last years we have seen a growing trend to recognize the diasporas important role in the development of their home countries. This has resulted in different programs to engage diasporas as investors, mentors and entrepreneurs. DSV is part of a project to facilitate diasporas engagement through promoting “circular migration”.

DSV paticipated in the world conference Global Forum 2012
In November the two-day conference Global Forum 2012: Shaping a connected digital future took part at Grand Hotel in Stockholm. Over 300 participants from 35 countries visited the conference dedicated to the Economic, Political, Social and Societal issues related to the sucessful evolution of the Information Society.
DSV sponsored the conference and also had in total five participants during the conference. DSV’s student union DISK assisted the Global Forum with talented students that managed blogs, interviews, and film recording that made this event memorable.

The game should be developed towards children with disabilities and focus on math. The purpose is to make use of additional senses, such as the body motoracle skills to enrich the learning experience. The winning contribution is a grant to travel to Microsoft Corporation in Seattle, Washington.
The price will be celebrated on a ceremony at DSV, the 1st of March by Anthony Salcito, Vice President, Microsoft, and Kåre Bremer, Dean, Stockholm University.

Open seminar 11 December. Social media and e-coaching in teaching
The multidiciplinary researcher and teacher Steven Verjans from Open University Netherlands visits DSV in Kista. Steven will talk about social media, networks, e-learning and Technology Enhanced Learning. Based on research and practice, also a number of guidelines for e-coaches are provided, that are best matched with the characteristics of the learning situation. Everyone is welcome!

paper award 2012
The paper "Towards Consumer Preference-aware Requirements" is selected as the best paper of the BUSITAL 2012 7th international workshop.The paper, written by Eric-Oluf Svee and Constantinos Giannoulis, Ph.D. students, and Jelena Zdravkovic, Ph.D., at Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV), will be published in the special edition of the International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design (IJISMD).

ICT4D open seminar April 26. Frontrunner - Mobile web apps developed for Kenya´s world class runners
PhD student William Jobe at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences informs about the research project with Kenyan elite runners. The use of smartphones and innovative web apps for training, learning and entreprenurship. Among users are world class runner Isaac Macharia and his group of young promising runners. Isaac was pace keeper for his friend Patrick Makau who won the world record 2011 in Berlin: 42.195 kilometres in 2:03:38. Everyone is welcome!

This past year the Centre has undergone a radical renewal, and they are now ready to show off Spider 2.0 - with a clear focus in their development projects and a clearer link to research. Visiting Professor Theo Kanter: Smart Services for Future Internet
Theo Kanter has been a visiting professor at DSV since summer 2010. His research is in the intersection of Ubiquitous Connectivity, Networked Media, and Distributed Sensor & User Information. Theo focuses on possible services by studying the properties of the platform for intelligent services for the future Internet. Theo Kanter had a part time position as visiting professor during the period 2010-2011.
