Unit of Systems Analysis and Security (SAS). The study of complex and dynamic systems that describe and define the world and the society around us,  and where deep insight and good decisions are to be made based on incomplete knowledge,  presence of uncertainty and time constraints focuses research in systems analysis.  This is also reflected in the wide range of problems being addressed and solved such as policy  decision making on local, national and international level including the impact on the environment  or the insurance strategies of public and private property in case of natural calamities,  public health issues and strategic business decisions. The diversity of the area draws on many  disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, philosophy, psychology and economics. The spectrum of key  activities covers subjects such as decision and risk analysis, data mining and simulation of complex systems.

Several additional aspects of complex dynamic systems are security, privacy and trust.  Those are the essential elements in facing and resolving the challenges of the information society,  and accepting its potential benefits by each citizen. Understanding and applying the principles  of secure, stable and resilient systems, how to make them sustainable and self-reliable in the  presence of various threats, hostile behavior and ignorance, yet amicable and safe to  generative human activities using the latest computing and communication technology  are among the main objectives of the research effort in cyber security and forensics.
