Please note that your course selection has not yet been processed and cannot be guaranteed. Once we have gone through your selection you will get a note of admission. If your course selection is rejected, you will be asked to apply for other courses.

Since there is a considerable shortage of accommodation in Stockholm, The Housing Office unfortunately cannot guarantee housing for every exchange student. The Housing Office will inform all admitted exchange students on how to apply for housing by e-mail May 17 - 18.

Residence permit

  • EU/EEA and Nordic citizens do not need a residence permit and do not need to register upon arrival.
  • Students from outside the EU/EEA and from Switzerland must apply for a residence permit for studies. Obtaining your residence permit might take a while so apply as soon as possible. The authority responsible for issuing residence permit in Sweden is the Swedish Migration Agency Migrationsverket.

We strongly recommend that you make sure you have complete insurance cover to avoid any extreme costs during the exchange period. Please carefully consider which level of insurance you need and pay particular attention to the coverage´s restrictions and exclusions. More information regarding insurance

University account

For you to be able to study at Stockholm University you need a University Account. The account gives you access to a number of IT services and is needed for instance to order your access card. You will get instruction on how to active your University Account by email a few weeks before your studies start.

Finding the different campuses: Kista and Frescati

Stockholm University has several campuses.

  • DSV is located in Kista.
  • The main campus is called Frescati.

It takes around 30 minutes to travel between the campuses by public transportation.
